Cale Makar Scores Twice, Avalanche Stay Alive With 5-3 Win Against Stars

The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Dallas Stars 5-3 in Game 4 of the Western Conference Second Round on Saturday night at American Airlines Center. Cale Makar scored twice for the Avalanche, who now trail 3-1 in the series.

The Stars took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Jamie Benn, but the Avalanche tied it up in the second period on a goal by Mikko Rantanen. Makar then gave the Avalanche a 2-1 lead with a goal late in the second period.

The Stars tied the game again in the third period on a goal by Roope Hintz, but Makar scored his second goal of the game just two minutes later to give the Avalanche a 3-2 lead. Nathan MacKinnon then extended the Avalanche's lead to 4-2 with a goal midway through the third period.

The Stars pulled their goalie with just over three minutes remaining in the game, and Jason Robertson scored to make it 4-3. However, the Avalanche held on for the win and now trail 3-1 in the series.

Game 5 of the series will be played in Denver on Monday night.
