Deadly Standoff Ends in Southeast Calgary

Man Dead After Armed Confrontation with Police

One man is dead following an armed standoff that began on Thursday in southeast Calgary. The standoff took place in the Penbrooke community and involved a heavily armed suspect barricaded inside a home.

After several hours of negotiations, the suspect surrendered to police. However, he was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Police have not released the suspect's name or the circumstances surrounding the standoff.
