Trial Date Yet To Be Set
After a weeklong delay, the House of Representatives is set to send its articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to the Senate on Tuesday afternoon.
Mayorkas is accused of "high crimes and misdemeanors" related to his handling of the influx of migrants at the southern border.
The House voted to impeach Mayorkas on a 231-196 vote last week, along party lines.
The Senate is now expected to hold a trial on the impeachment charges. A two-thirds majority vote is required to convict and remove Mayorkas from office.
The trial date has not yet been set.
