Lakers Playoff Hopes Extinguished After Loss to Suns
Missed Playoffs in Half of LeBron's Seasons

The Los Angeles Lakers' hopes of making the playoffs this season have dwindled to zero after they suffered a 115-105 defeat to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. With their loss, and a win by the San Antonio Spurs over the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers were officially eliminated from contention for the 2022 NBA postseason.
This marks the second time in LeBron James' four seasons with the Lakers that the team has missed the playoffs. The Lakers entered this year with aspirations of winning a championship, but injuries and poor play derailed their season.
The Lakers' loss to the Suns on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive defeat. They are now 31-48 this season, which is their worst record since the 2015-16 campaign. James, who has been dealing with a sprained ankle, did not play in Tuesday's game.
The Lakers' season has been a disappointment from start to finish. They were expected to be one of the top teams in the Western Conference, but they never found their rhythm. Injuries to James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook hampered the team all season.
The Lakers will now have to focus on the offseason, where they will try to rebuild their roster and get back into contention for a championship.
